Historical records reveal that the first chestnut trees lining the path to the  Zubov Palace were planted over 100 years ago. Over its long history, Chestnut Alley has endured its share of hardships. In the winter of 1939, the old chestnut trees froze and withered due to extreme cold, leading to their removal in 1940. However, after World War II, they were replanted, restoring the alley’s charm. In 2019, Šiauliai Chestnut Alley underwent another renovation. Some timeworn trees were removed and replaced with new ones. Today, dozens of chestnut trees bloom here, providing shade for cozy benches beneath them. The renewed pavement offers a pleasant and comfortable walking experience, while vintage-style streetlights cast a romantic glow over the alley in the evening.

Although Šiauliai Chestnut Alley welcomes visitors year-round, its most breathtaking moment is when the chestnut trees bloom.
