Marija Pečkauskaitė, known as Šatrijos Ragana, is one of the most prominent figures in Lithuanian literary history. While living in Židikai, she created some of her finest works, including "In the Old Manor" and "Irka's Tragedy." Her remarkable contributions to Lithuanian literature enriched the classics, and the town of Židikai became a hub of activities promoting the well-being of the local community. Through Pečkauskaitė's efforts, a Lithuanian school, hospital, and nursing home were established here. The Šatrijos Ragana Memorial Museum in Židikai offers visitors the opportunity to explore the writer's personal belongings, family photographs, and documents. Her final resting place is in the Židikai cemetery, where visitors can pay their respects to her memory.
