In Ventė, on the shores of the Curonian Lagoon, stands a remarkable monument—"To Those Who Never Returned from the Lagoon and All Waters." A stone boat, inscribed in both Lithuanian and Curonian languages, symbolizes those who set sail but never came back.
This monument was erected in 2015 at the initiative of the Ventė community to honor all whose lives ended at sea. Its creation was inspired by a tragic event during the 1989 Curonian Lagoon regatta when a storm sank a yacht from Kintai, claiming three lives.
Each year, the community gathers at this site to pay tribute to the lost, offering prayers and releasing wreaths into the lagoon in their memory.
