The Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in Kaunatava is a small wooden Orthodox church located in the village of Kaunatava, in the Telšiai district. Built in 1894 with funds donated by an unknown merchant from Saint Petersburg, the church stands out for its history and uniqueness. A donation of 5,000 rubles was made for its construction, and the church was built on land that once belonged to the Catholic parish. The Orthodox community was established in 1895, but in 1921, there was an attempt to transfer the church building to the Catholics. This caused discontent among the parish faithful, who successfully appealed the decision. By 1937, the community had nearly a thousand believers.
After World War II, in 1947, the Soviet authorities officially registered the parish, and at that time, a priest would visit once a month from Kolainiai or Telšiai. The church was restored in 2010, and services are held during the summer.
